This course is designed for the phlebotomist who has been out of the medical workforce for several years and would like to review necessary information to return to work in a clinical setting.
Who should take this course?
Anyone you has completed a Phlebotomy Training Program within the last 3 years and who needs to brush up on their phlebotomy knowledge and venipuncture skills.
Phlebotomists who have been out of phlebotomy for several years have almost no chance of finding employment. So, taking a refresher course will give you the "hands-on" experience you need, while renewing your skills and reviewing necessary information.
The Phlebotomy Refresher Course is 60% online and 40% "hands-on" venipuncture training.
Location: Online 12 (Self-Pace) hours
and On-site: 8 hrs. (have to be completed within two weeks of successfully completed the post- online class material).
Once completed students will gain (2) CEUs or Continuing education units and be rewarded a Phlebotomy Refresher Program
Certificate of Completion.

No, this course is only for those who have attended a Phlebotomy Technician Program within the last 3 years and currently hold a Phlebotomy Certificate but would like to refresh their skills and knowledge. You will need to enroll in OPTC's 7-weeks Phlebotomy Technician Program.

The online educational portal offers students the ability to self-study at their own pace. The online portion of the course consist of several modules includes a pre-test, objectives for learning, narrative, videos and helpful graphics. A list of recommended supplemental reading is also included. Depending on the individual, most modules require a minimum of one hour to complete, excluding additional text. Upon completion of the self-study modules, the student will be required to complete a minimum of 8 successful "LIVE" blood draws on site. Students will draw blood on each other under the supervision of the instructor. Once completed the student will receive a Certificate of Completion to accompany their current Phlebotomy Certificate and a total of (2) CEUs. The student will now be more appealing to employers, when applying for employment for a Phlebotomy job in a hospital laboratory, blood center, or other health care facilities.
